Our Principal, Daniel Chan, is also on the Legal Aid WA Practitioners Panel. He is able to accept grants of aid to act for clients who qualify for assistance in matters relating to Violence Restraining Orders (FVRO and VRO); Criminal matters in the Magistrates Court and Other Indictable matters; Family Law; Family Law Dispute Resolution; and Protection and Care (Children's Court).

Daniel is a Senior Practitioner based in Perth, Western Australia. He 'respects and acknowledges that he works on the land of and is surrounded by a sense of belonging, both ancient and contemporary, of the world's oldest living culture' ¹.

Daniel is admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. He is a Nationally Accredited Independent Children’s Lawyer representing children's interests in the Family Court and acting as a Separate Representative in Protection and Care proceedings in the Children’s Court.

In 2022 Daniel commenced a three year appointment as a member of the Care Plan Review Panel. The Panel has been established under the Children and Community Services Act 2004 (WA) to review decisions that are made as part of a care plan for children in the care of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Department of Communities.

Daniel is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia, The Criminal Lawyers Association of Western Australia, the Family Law Practitioners' Association of Western Australia, The Asian Australian Lawyers Association and is a member and was on the management committee of Murdoch University SCALES Community Legal Centre Inc from August 2014 to April 2018.

On 22 February 2018, Daniel was named the inaugural Asian Australian Lawyers Association Inc (WA) Young Lawyer of the Year. You can find out more about this event at Lawyers Weekly.

Daniel is multi-lingual. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Chinese dialects including Cantonese and Hokkien. He also understands Bahasa Malaysia.

John is admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia.

He holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice; and Bachelor's degrees in Law (LLB) and Arts (BA) Major: Security, Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism.

Prior to practicing Law, John served in the Singapore Police Force gaining valuable insights and experience in the dynamics of high conflict interactions and the crucial role of the justice system in the resolution of same.

John is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Asian Australian Lawyers Association.

Outside of work, John enjoys staying active through sports and spending quality time with his family.
